One Week Later

Alana will be the death of me. And she has no idea.

After I explained what happened to the guys, they understood and just, literally, shrugged. Everyone’s ready to take on Richie if he shows up, and everyone will defend Alana if it’s needed. They also think I’m a fool for not telling her sooner.

But she’s been through so much. Yeah, my bear has been giving me hell for not having her, but I don’t want to press. We have time. She’s working here, and I see her every day. It’s torture, yes, but I don’t want to take it too far. Scare her.

Even if all I want is to bend her over a table and take her from behind. Mate her the first moment I can get my hands on her. And as we close the bar off and she wipes a table clean, I don’t think I can prevail upon tonight. The bar’s empty, everyone had already left or gone upstairs, and there’s only me, pretending I’m counting the beer bottles in the freezer, and Alana, bent over a table, moving her hips as she sweeps the surface. My erection has just reached a new level of hardness.

Deep breaths, Maddox. Don’t do anything you’ll come to regret. Don’t hurt her.

Alana blinks, her gaze darting from me to the tables. She runs her fingers through her amber hair, a motion she has no idea how badly it affects me.
